IWRM-net call for research proposals 2008

Closed

The subjects were :
  • Hydrological and morphological pressures and impacts on ecological status
  • Water Governance

 the approved projects are

FORECASTER

Facilitating the application of Output from Research and CAse STudies on Ecological Responses to hydro-morphological degradation and rehabilitation. The web-based tool developed as part of the project is a knowledge and information system relating hydromorphology and ecology of European rivers. The system presents a compilation of case studies describing the output from restoration and rehabilitation projects aiming at improving the ecological condition of different river systems.

I-Five

Innovative Instruments and Institutions in Implementing the Water Framework Directive. The aims of the i-Five project are to promote the transboundary exchange of experiences in implementing the European Water Framework Directive (WFD), to broaden the range of available methods and tools, and to help water managers develop the best approach for their circumstances. http://actoranalysis.net/i-five/

KNAC

RIPFLOW

Riparian vegetation modelling for the assessment of environmental flow regimes and climate change impacts within the WFD. Modelling relations between Flow regime - Riparian vegetation. We are working in 3 lines, in partnership with other groups: developing response curves for riparian species (in terms of flow duration, recurrence intervals, etc.), developing a model of vegetation distribution as a function of soil moisture and evapotranspiration (RibAV), and calibrating a dynamic succession model that considerates the flow disturbance and soil moisture effects on the vegetation dynamics (RIPFLOW) http://personales.alumno.upv.es/joa...

Topic of the Month

A Changing Climate : Regarding climate projections prepared by the IPCC 2008, it has been demonstrated that changes in precipitations and temperatures are expected in Europe, with likely significant regional differences. Climate change will affect average temperatures and the precipitations patterns, as well as the magnitude and the frequency of extreme events
